Nominations open for sustainable finance award

Nominations have opened for the sustainable finance category of the Sustainable City Awards 2012 – an awards ceremony that acknowledges “excellence in the field of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility”.

The event is organised by the City of London, in association with the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF).

The award in the sustainable finance category should “recognise and reward the most innovative contribution to sustainable investment and finance launched in the last 12 months”, and can be given to a product, service, initiative or research report.

UKSIF chief executive Penny Shepherd recently featured in Blue & Green Tomorrow Guide to Sustainable Investment, which was written and published in line with this year’s National Ethical Investment Week.

When asked to encourage individuals to invest sustainably, she said, “The world is changing and how money is made in the future will be different.

We are already seeing the evidence that taking into account environmental and social factors should help you both to make money in the future and also make a difference in the world.”

Nominee suggestions should be sent to tom.lafford@uksif.org by midday on November 30 2012.
