Over £24m invested on Crowdcube in early 2015
Investment crowdfunding platform Crowdcube funded 36 businesses in the first quarter of 2015, helping raise more than £17 million for innovative projects.
Crowdcube is the world’s leading investment crowdfunding platform, allowing people and experienced investors to fund start-up, early stage and growth businesses through equity, debt and investment fund options.
In the first months of 2015, from January to March, Crowdcube had more than £24 million invested through the site, for a total amount raised of £17 million.
This helped to fund 36 businesses – including 17 early stage and 11 growth businesses. According to the site’s figures, over a thousands of jobs will be created over the next three years.
The excellent outcome achieved by Crowdcube through the years resulted in Darren Westlake, CEO and co-founder, being nominated one of the UK’s most influential people.
The largest funded pitch was Just Park, which raised £3.7 million, while The Pressery got funded in less than two hours. Five businesses managed to raise over £1 million.
Crowdcube operates on the “All or Nothing” model, when a pitch reaches its target, the business is funded. If not, no funds are taken from investors and no money is charged. A 5% commission is charged on a successful campaigns.
