Businesses Missing out on Big Savings from Heat and Light Energy
Around 60% of businesses can find ways to reduce their energy bills through changes to lighting and heating, according to Resource Efficient Scotland, a programme of Zero Waste Scotland.
As a new heating and lighting campaign kicks off, it has been revealed that when Resource Efficient Scotland expert advisors work with small to medium sized businesses, they spot opportunities to save costs on lighting and heating in over half of all visits, even when the business has already made improvements.
Head of Resource Efficient Scotland, Marissa Lippiatt, said “Heating and lighting is likely to account for the majority of a company’s energy costs. At any time of year, poor management of heating and lighting wastes profits and increases an organisation’s carbon footprint – but during winter, poor performance can make an even bigger dent.”
To help organisations learn the skills and gain the knowledge that will help them manage their heating and lighting systems effectively, Resource Efficient Scotland is running a series of free workshops and webinars in the coming weeks.
Marissa added “Taking action doesn’t have to mean big investments in new equipment. Our upcoming training will show businesses how they can take no and low-cost actions so that cold weather doesn’t lead to soaring energy bills year after year.”
This month businesses can sign up to take part in a free workshop titled, ‘How to save energy and reduce your heating bill’, taking place on Tuesday 23 February from 8.45am to 1pm at Hampden Park Stadium.
The half day workshop will give businesses all the help they need to begin saving energy and reducing the costs associated with heating their organisation.
There is also a live webinar taking place on Thursday 25 February at 11am. The 45 minute webinar, ‘How to save energy and money on your hot water’, will discuss ways that organisations can minimise energy use and pinpoint the best areas to save money on hot water.
