Solar Success Despite Cuts

Published

on

New research has shown that despite government cuts to the Feed-in Tariff (FiT), solar panels can improve a property’s value. The research revealed that having solar panels on a property can increase its value by almost a fifth. Rexel UK have welcomed the news that the solar industry is still an attractive market.

According to the study, installing solar panels can increase the value of a home by an average of 17 per cent, while helping it to sell 20 per cent faster.

Steve Everard, head of Rexel Energy Solutions, comments: “Despite recent cuts by the Government to the Feed-in Tariff, falling costs means that solar still delivers a healthy return on investment and can help to reduce your electricity bill by around 50 per cent.

“In this way, a solar PV installation can add huge additional value to a property while also ensuring a wider appeal for those looking to sell. After all, with energy bills presenting one of the biggest financial concerns for UK consumers, the draw of a 50 per cent reduction is only going to become more and more attractive.”

As a business committed to driving solar adoption forward, Rexel UK’s innovative Energeasy Solar online platform has been designed to reaffirm consumer confidence in solar. The service is designed to support the time-stretched installer, who can use the dedicated portal to manage existing and prospective clients, as well as the installation process from beginning to end – all within a personalised, password protected space.

Steve Everard added: “Regardless of recent media speculation, the reality is that solar is integral to achieving our carbon reduction targets and realising a low carbon future. While the FiT changes may pose a momentary stumbling block, there is no doubt that solar adoption will continue to grow year on year.”
