Carbon Limiting Technologies (CLT), a low carbon and sustainable techonology-focused business consultancy, has been re-instated as the key delivery partner for incubation support services to the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Energy Entrepreneurs Fund.

The Energy Entrepreneurs Fund (EEF) is a BEIS competitive funding scheme to support the development and demonstration of state-of-the-art technologies, products and processes in the areas of energy efficiency, power generation, and heat and electricity storage.

As the main delivery partner to BEIS, CLT will help ensure that companies achieve maximum commercial impact from an EEF grant, assisting these companies on their route from start-up/early stage mode towards commercialisation. A key part of CLT’s work will be business planning, in order to increase the chances and the speed of bringing British low-carbon technologies to market.

Beverley Gower-Jones, co-founder and Chief Executive of Carbon Limiting Technologies said: “The EEF has been a great success, with more than £38m awarded to over 80 British companies to date. A good number of companies, that have received CLT’s support through the EEF, are now making significant progress in the commercial world.

“Our work will help the next generation of the UK’s low carbon tech community to achieve commercialisation, which means for this country: job creation, skills development, exports and new investment opportunities. BEIS knows that a transition to a low carbon future, where the UK meets its carbon reduction commitments, will only happen if British innovation reaches market.”

CLT was re-appointed after a competitive tender process and it will lead a consortium of firms to deliver the work programme over the next three years. The CLT consortium members are Amec Foster Wheeler, Arup, Carbon Trust and WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff.

CLT was established 10 years ago to support the commercialisation of low carbon/clean technology. As well as being the principal delivery organisation for BEIS’s Energy Entrepreneurs Fund and its Low Carbon Innovation programme, CLT has also delivered business support programmes for the European Regional Development Fund.
