Like Brits, Americans want a clean energy revolution

Like Brits, Americans want a clean energy revolution

We reported earlier this week on how a Friends of the Earth poll had found 85% of Britons favoured renewable energy over overseas gas. Well, it appears we’re not alone in this mindset.

It has emerged that our cousins across the Atlantic are also in the pro-renewables camp, after a study by the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication found that 92% of Americans believe developing clean energy is of very high (31%), high (38%) or medium (23%) priority for Government.

Meanwhile, over two-thirds (68%) believe their country ought to make medium or large scale efforts to reduce the effects of global warming – despite the associated initial economic costs.

79% of Americans also back funding to help research renewable energy technologies.

Let’s hope Republican candidate Mitt Romney won’t spoil the party in November.
