Water company squandering millions of litres
The threat of a drought and a subsequent hosepipe ban in the UK might be enough to put most of us off of using water excessively, but one water company seems oblivious, having been exposed as apparently wasting millions of litres of the stuff by The Sun.
It has been claimed that South East Water has been opening more than a thousand hydrants in the dead of night, each of which release water at a rate of ten litres a second. Why you ask? In order to clean out the system, they say.
We hope South East Water would look back at their actions somewhat sheepishly, if they read Blue & Green Tomorrow’s contribution to World Water Day in March. The shocking realisation that 783 million people worldwide still don’t have access to clean water should make us all savour every last drop.
