What’s that got to do with the price of beef?

In a recent article by Paul West of the Global Landscapes Initiative at the University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment, an interesting fact emerged: “Eating one less portion of beef a week reduces greenhouse gases more than buying only local food all year round”.

Shetland helicopter coastguards somewhat missed the point when they dropped in on Orkney butchers to pick up locally produced beef.

While Blue & Green Tomorrow supports the purchase of local produce, we also recognise the need to reduce beef consumption and strongly discourage unncessary helicopter flights.

The pilot has been suspended pending an investigation.
