Elizabeth Truss: Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Elizabeth Truss MP was appointed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 15 July 2014. She was elected as the Conservative MP for south west Norfolk in 2010. She will remain in post.
Elizabeth studied philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College, Oxford. Elizabeth entered Parliament in 2010. She was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Childcare in September 2012. Elizabeth was previously Deputy Director at Reform. She also worked in the energy and telecommunications industry for 10 years as a commercial manager and economics director, and is a qualified management accountant.

- Voted strongly for fewer MPs in the House of Commons
- Voted moderately for encouraging occupational pensions
- Voted very strongly for an equal number of electors per parliamentary constituency

- Voted very strongly against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability
- Voted very strongly for greater restrictions on campaigning by third parties, such as charities, during elections
