Sustainable investor Quilter Cheviot nominated for Charity Times award

Investment management firm Quilter Cheviot, which specialises in sustainability, has been recognised for its work in providing investment solutions to charities. The firm has made it onto the 15th Charity Times Awards shortlist in the investment management category.

The Charity Times Awards aim to recognise the leaders within charities who are responsible for co-ordinating activity throughout the UK. The event celebrates best practice throughout out the sector and designed to contribute to raising the standards.

The winners of the awards will be announced at an awards gala dinner and ceremony on October 22 at the Lancaster London Hotel.

Quilter Cheviot has a total of £15.8 billion funds under management and around £1.2 billion of this is in relation to charities. The firm can trace its heritage back to 1771 and focuses on structuring and managing bespoke discretionary portfolios for private clients, charities, trusts, pension funds and intermediaries. The firm offers a range of sustainable investment funds.

Investment director Claudia Quiroz, lead fund manager of the Quilter Cheviot Climate Assets fund, explained that the firm’s reputation is built on understanding a charity’s ethical constraints and incorporating them into the investment management process.

She added, “It’s also crucial, in our view, that we assist charities to define and construct a clear investment policy statement which enshrines the parameters and principles of their approach.”

Other firms competing in the Investment Management category include Brewing Dolphin, Cazenove Charities, Investec Wealth and Investment, JP Morgan, Newton Investment Management and UBS Wealth Management.

The Charity Times Awards cover a range of charitable activities and categories, including fundraising team of the year, best use of the web, social investment initiative and charity of the year, which is split into three income categories.
