A week to go: Move Or Mo. Save A Bro. Join The Movement This Movember

Movember, the month formerly known as ‘November’, launches its 2015 campaign to Mo Bros and Mo Sistas across the nation, encouraging men and women to sign up and grow a mo or commit to MOVE to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

“5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas: To date more than £400 million has been raised globally and over 1,000 men’s health projects have been funded.”

Unfamiliar with Movember? Watch ‘Mo’vement co-founder Adam Garone talk about getting healthier men, one moustache at a time.

As Mo Bros unite and clean shave on the 1st of the month, they become walking, talking billboards helping to generate awareness and raise vital funds as they wear Movember’s hairy ribbon, the moustache for 30 days.

When it comes to their health, too many men don’t talk, don’t take action and die too young. The Movember Foundation wants to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives and invests in four key areas: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

Even though the Movember Foundation will always be all about the moustache, there is now more than one way to champion men’s health this month. MOVE is a new initiative encouraging Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to get physically active and make a commitment to improve their health while raising funds.

The challenge is to MOVE every day of Movember – 30 MOVEs in 30 days. How you MOVE each day is up to you. Whether it’s a workout one day, walking 30 minutes to work the next, a game of ping pong or an epic bike ride, no MOVE is too big or small.

The good news is that moving on a regular basis can reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%. It’s also one of the best ways to stay mentally healthy and one of the best treatments for mild to moderate depression.

“This Movember, we want Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to think about mind, body and mo by challenging each other to grow or MOVE for 30 days.” says Sarah Coghlan, UK country director for Movember. “Being active is one of the best things you can do for your health, so the addition of MOVE makes it even easier to do something fun that’s good for you and men’s health. Just sign up at Movember.com.”

The Movember Foundation spans the globe across 21 countries. Since inception, a global army of over 5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas have grown, or supported the growth of a moustache. To date more than £400 million has been raised globally and over 1,000 men’s health projects have been funded.

Men and women sign up at Movember.com to grow, give or MOVE for the 30 days of Movember.
