Practically, these systems were ideal for hybrids, whereas these vehicles were not pure hybrids because they did not utilize the hybrid principle, i.e. the mechanism based on two or more power sources. In fact, they were preferably called micro-hybrids. A beefed-up starter motor in combination with a capacitor or battery was used for the start/stop functionality.
