Harvard University political philosophy professor Michael Sandel asks whether too much is for sale in our current democracy, in this week’s featured TED talk.
Sandel says the US has drifted from a market economy to a market society in the past three decades, to the point where an American’s experience of shared civic life depends on their wealth. Three examples, he says, are education, justice and political influence.
In a captivating 14-minute talk, Sandel argues that such markets can not be trusted in these situations.
