Lincoln is an historic city with a vibrant and contemporary edge that adds an exciting dimension to any visit. Originally a Roman colony, Lindum Colonia, Lincoln is home to a spectacular and unrivalled Norman Cathedral and formidable Castle. The castle itself is home to one of the four surviving original copies of Magna Carta, while next door the White Hart Hotel is birthplace of the tank. Lincoln remains the only extant constituency from the 1265 parliament. The Red Arrows, based in nearby RAF Scampton will often soar overhead during your stay.

An ideal destination for a city break, Lincoln offers an experience rich in history combined with independent boutique shopping, great arts and culture and a wealth of places to eat and drink.

The city is easily walkable for visitors with good mobility – the main shopping and tourist area stretches from St Marks Shopping centre in the south up to the Cathedral Quarter – known locally as ‘Uphill’. Steep Hill, voted Britain’s Greatest Street 2012, connects ‘downhill’ and ‘uphill’ Lincoln. Yes it is steep as its name suggests, but well worth the walk. Lincoln has also been regularly cited as one of the most desirable cities to live in, which is why Blue & Green lives here.

Your accommodation, if you choose to stay with us, is a beautiful south facing double room in the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln. You overlook the Castle wall and are two minutes’ walk from the Cathedral, Bailgate, Steep Hill and a wide selection of independent shops, bars and restaurants. There are also many great hotels, guest houses and B&Bs and fantastic places to eat which we can recommend.
