More than 75% of tourism operators in Asia Pacific have high business risks related to water scarcity, according to data to be discussed at Inner Circle 2016, a global sustainability and responsible tourism forum to be hosted by EarthCheck on 21-22 April 2016 at Alila Seminyak, Bali.
The data was revealed by Ecolab’s Water Risk Monetizer utilizing a subset of more than 350 properties from EarthCheck’s database of more than 1400 tourism operators in 70 countries. The Water Risk Monetizer is an interactive financial modelling tool that provides actionable information to help businesses financially quantify water-related risks, enabling more informative planning for growth. Commenting on the significance of holding a tourism industry forum in Bali, a region facing major infrastructure challenges including limited potable water supply, Mr Moore said the Inner Circle forum had historically acted as an ‘incubator’ for industry knowledge and solutions.
