Energy term of the day: carbon emissions reduction target

Published

on

The carbon emissions reduction target (CERT) is a target enshrined in law that imposes targets on gas and electricity companies to reduce the carbon emissions they create in the process of transporting and supplying energy.

In the UK, CERT was formerly known as the energy efficiency commitments (EEC), and will later this year be known as the energy company obligation (ECO).
