The Renewables Consulting Group (RCG) has announced it will be offering new opportunities for talented leaders in the renewable energy industry. The RCG is joining forces with some of the top-ranking universities in the UK to provide coaching and guidance. The programme is open to students from engineering, technology, sciences or MBA programmes, who are considering a career in the consulting industry.

Selected participants will typically spend 12 weeks in one of RCG’s offices being guided and coached by a director or practice leader, and working alongside task teams on a wide variety of research projects and client engagements.

Whilst cases may vary considerably from one day to the next, from strategy and policy engagement through to implementation and operations, typical responsibilities may include research on specific issues, markets or technologies, data gathering and analysis, presentation of findings, and contributing to reports and client presentations.

Sebastian Chivers, chief executive officer at RCG said: “Creating a leading intern programme has been high on our to-do list since day one, and I am really pleased our first summer associate joined the UK team this month. We believe that investing in and developing the next generation of experts makes perfect business sense. We want to construct a programme that offers a truly life-changing experience for our interns, with a hope that throughout this process we will find some outstanding individuals who we may offer permanent positions once they graduate.”

James Taylor, RCG’s first summer associate, who is currently completing a master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of Exeter said: “As I move into my fourth and final year of study in September I decided to search for a summer placement to enhance my knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to join the RCG team, and look forward to learning from the many industry experts within the company. Specifically, I am looking forward to furthering my knowledge in the offshore wind, energy storage, and energy policy sectors. I am hoping to apply the skills I have learnt from my degree to help further the work RCG is doing in the sector.”

The summer associate programme should provide participants with a thorough understanding of the renewable energy and management consulting industry, understand the kinds of challenges facing all key stakeholders, and importantly have a lot of fun and build new business relationships along the way.

RCG plans to launch a parallel programme in the U.S. from its headquarters in New York. We are looking for enthusiastic, team players, with solid analytical skills, endless curiosity and a hunger to learn and succeed in the renewable energy industry. Interested applicants should email a CV and cover letter to recruitment@renewablescg.com.
