Triodos Renewables to hold first open day at Bristol wind farm
Turbine tours are being held at a wind farm in Avonmouth, Bristol, on Saturday June 7 as part of a family fun day organised by Triodos Renewables.
The event is free and will run from 10am to 1pm, with Bristol’s mayor George Ferguson officially opening the site.
In addition to the turbine tours, the ‘Explorer Dome’ will be on site, which includes interactive science activities and a team will be on hand to help visitors create their own wind farm.
On the day, there will also be a chance to find out more about joining the Triodos Renewables community and experts will be available to answer any questions about green energy and sustainable investment.
Triodos Renewables is a subsidiary of Triodos Bank’s investment arm. It is a public limited company and owned by over 5,000 investors dedicated to seeing their investment used for the good of the planet.
The Avonmouth wind farm was built in March 2013 and has been generating energy since November 2013. Triodos Renewables has 13 clean energy projects in its portfolio, including a 55% stake in a Cambridgeshire wind farm and a wind power project at Floods Ferry, also in Cambridgeshire.
Executive director Matthew Clayton said the firm was pleased to be opening its site up to the public. He explained, “It also acts as a demonstration for the positive impact our shareholders investment has made in contributing to cleaning up the UK’s energy supply.
“Connecting individuals with sustainable energy is key to Triodos Renewables mission. This is the first of a series of open days we plan to host across our sites and there is no better place to start than Bristol with its status as European Green Capital 2015 and ahead of the city’s annual Big Green Week.”
The company is expecting a busy day with 150 people already booked in – meaning the event is currently sold out. To find out more details or add your name to the waiting list, visit www.triodos.co.uk/avonmouth.
