Ethical retailer of the week: Ecozone
Founded in Britain in 1997, Ecozone provides a wide range of ecological cleaning and household products, which respect the environment and are good for people’s health.
Ecozone products are nowadays available in over 22 countries and on many online retailers, such as Ocado and Amazon, among others.
The company is part of the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex), which links organisations and businesses that supply ethical and eco-friendly goods.
Ecozone started with the idea of providing toxin-free products. It states, “We want to reduce the amount of toxic chemicals you live with. Homes should be safe, clean places for people to flourish, not germs. But we don’t see why giving dirt the heave-ho means letting loose all manner of planet-zapping toxins. Not on our watch.
“For us, being green’s not about attaining some elitist or hippy ideal. Respecting the environment can be a way of living every day.”
Ecozone’s innovative laundry product EcoBalls has been voted one of the ten ‘best green household products’ by the Independent.
Other interesting products include a tap and showerhead descaler gel, energy efficient light bulbs that save up to 75% energy than ordinary bulbs and drain cleaning sticks.
Among certification gained by the company are BUAV and Nature Watch accreditations, meaning that the company do not commission test on animals for its products, and the approval of Allergy UK.
Ecozone is also certified vegan – there are no animal ingredients in its products – and was also awarded the Ecolabel certification for its high environmental standards.
