Instagram announced in June 2018 that they hit 1 billion global users, adding half a billion users in two years. Ranked number three behind Facebook and YouTube, it’s a great place to engage with your audience where there isn’t a ton of competition because the market isn’t as saturated as it is on Facebook and YouTube. You may know her better as @EmmaWatson, the actress Emma Watson who rose to fame for her role as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter movie series, and has stayed there as a result of her roles in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, and the live action version of Beauty and the Beast. What you may not readily know about her is that she is also very eco-conscious and strives to be as eco-friendly as possible in all aspects of her life. She is the UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador and a leader in eco-fashion.
This separate Instagram account, with nearly 500,000 followers, is one she uses to educate people and promotes her sustainable fashion choices as she tours the world to promote her latest work in film. In the post below, for instance, she says where she is, tags the people and organizations she’s with, and then tags the brands she’s wearing in her outfit. She tells you who designed the clothes, shoes, and jewelry, and makes sure everything is as eco-friendly and ethical as possible.
This Instagram account is part of the social media for the website by the same name. It’s a great place for inspirational quotes, and advice to help you live your best eco-friendly life. The idea behind it is that you cannot effectively take care of the earth and its other inhabitants if you cannot first take care of yourself.
Here you can expect to learn about all things related to green beauty, wellness, and more. Their Instagram is an extension of their website, which according to their About Page “takes a 360-degree approach to wellness that incorporates mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and environmental well-being – because we believe these pillars of wellness are vital and interconnected.”
Like Mind Body Green, this Instagram account is part of the social media for the website by the same name. The website was founded in 2010 by Jennifer Nini, a writer, a certified organic farm owner, and activist. Her website, Instagram, and other social media platforms cover everything from eco-beauty to environmental issues, sustainable fashion, wellness, green technology, and more. They also cover conscious business, feminism, social justice, and policies. They are proud of the fact that they are more than a platform or publication, and call themselves a “media business and community of clever, stylish, discerning people who want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.”
You may know him from such hits as Titanic, The Man in the Iron Mask, Shutter Island, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. But, Leonardo DiCaprio is more than just one of the world’s most successful actors. He’s also an environmentalist. In 1998, he founded The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the long-term overall health and wellbeing of our planet and its citizens.
Since the foundation began, they’ve supported more than 200 projects across 50 countries and five oceans, and awarded more than $100 million in grants, supporting 132 organizations. The grant-making program focuses on six areas: marine life and oceans, climate change, innovative solutions, indigenous rights, wildlife and landscapes, and the Environment Now California program. Like Emma Watson, DiCaprio uses his celebrity reach for good.

The National Geographic Society is mostly known for their magazine and TV specials, but they are much more than that. Not only have they been inspiring people to care about our planet since 1888 (well before climate change became a major issue for us), they are one of the largest non-profit educational and scientific organizations.
They focus on geography, natural science, archeology, cartography, and most of all, exploration. They promote historical and environmental conservation. Follow them, and you’ll get one heck of a view of the world through the eyes of some of the best photographers across the globe.
