Belu – the UK’s leading ethical bottled water brand and pioneering social enterprise – today released its 2016 Impact Report marking five successful years of the Belu Water and WaterAid partnership. The report is released to coincide with World Water Day.

Belu sets out to exemplify the highest environmental standards in the bottled water industry and seeks to demonstrate this with a sustainable business model generating profits, all of which are invested inhelping end water poverty through WaterAid’s vision of a world where everyone everywhere has access to safe water and sanitation by 2030.

Since 2011 Belu sales have increased by 116%* and payments to WaterAid have easily superseded the original pledge to give WaterAid £1m by 2020. Belu is now on a mission to pass over £1m per year to WaterAid by 2018.

CEO Karen Lynch said: ‘We are delighted to be celebrating this landmark partnership year with WaterAid. As bottled water consumption rises in the UK, and with water poverty still an enormous global issue to resolve, Belu has a greater role than ever and will continue to inspire and set the benchmark within the Social Enterprise sector.’

Matt King, Belu Finance Director added: “Over the past 5 years Belu has doubled its revenues whilst strengthening its balance sheet position significantly. We continue to trade ethically and with the approval of WaterAid to maintain a working capital reserve to ensure all future obligations, as well as allowing investment to grow and meet the demands of a dynamic business.  We are immeasurably proud that Belu have been able to give in excess of £1.5m to WaterAid.”
