‘Good Investor’ guide launched for socially-motivated investors
Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 By
Social finance firm Investing for Good has launched a guide that aims to provide impact investors with best-practice information into the sector.
The Good Investor, which was commissioned by Big Society Capital and Deutsche Bank, looks to lay out how to highlight and invest in companies that fit various social and environmental criteria.
Social investors Big Issue Invest, Bridges Ventures, Nesta and Triodos Bank were among the firms to lend their expertise to the writing of the guide.
Geoff Burnand, chief executive of Investing for Good, said, “The Good Investor offers investors three key advantages: better impact investment and fund management, better relationships with social purpose organisations working on the front line, and better communication with commissioners and business partners.”
The guide focuses on five key processes of investment, from the initial screening to reporting on the impact generated by the financing, in order to add structure for the investor.
It comes after a study last month by JP Morgan and the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) predicted that impact investment will grow 12.5% in 2013 to a total of £5.6 billion worldwide.
The guide is available for download at www.goodinvestor.co.uk.
