Neal’s Yard Remedies is an organic skincare company founded in London’s Covent Garden with the aim of offering natural health products that are both ethical and environmentally-friendly.
Named after the famous Neal’s Yard alley in Covent Garden, Neal’s Yard Remedies has become a leading name in the natural beauty sector, offering skincare products that respect humans, the animals and the environment .
Founded in 1981, the company now has 40 stores across the UK, as well as branches elsewhere in the world, and in 2008 it became the first UK high-street retailer to be certified carbon neutral.
“What matters to us are people, their health and their happiness. We’re obsessed with discovering and delivering natural ways to improve health and wellbeing through our outstanding natural and organic skin and body care products”, the company says.
“We also believe passionately that our environment is of vital importance, both in its own right and as the source of many of the plants and herbs vital to our wellbeing.”
One of the pillars of Neal’s Yard Remedies’ success is organic agriculture. The company states that growing organic is not just a way of protecting the environment, but is also safer for our own health.
In addition, the company also behaves responsibly towards it suppliers – it uses fairtrade ingredients and supports a number of development organisations – and the environment, working to minimise its impact and protect natural habitats.
Neal’s Yard Remedies has won several prestigious awards in the past, such as the 2014 Ethical Company awards, the 2014 Earth Day Beauty Awards and the Ethical Corporation Responsible Business Awards 2013.
