Nkuku is a fairtrade and ethical company producing stylish and original gifts, accessorises, home and kitchen wares, following socially responsible principles.
Blue & Green Tomorrow is currently running a crowdfunder to ensure its survival. Please pledge.
Nkuku is a Devon-based company that realises its products thanks to the ability of skilled artisans from India and Africa.
It offers a wide range of goods and gifts, including candles, glassware, kitchen accessorises, pots, furniture, lighting, rugs, as well as gift or wedding lists and much more.
Nkuku says that it built on the principles of fair trade and equal opportunity, with the aim of improving the lives of Indian and African artisans, sharing and exporting their craft.
Explaining its fairtrade policy, the company states, “We ensure compliance with this code of conduct by making regular visits to our suppliers. We also maintain a close and personal relationship with the artisans themselves, and know that they are very proud of their work and their workforce.”
As well as a focus on the workers’ conditions and the ethics of its products, Nkuku also reserves special treatment for the environment. The company is committed to using recycled and natural materials that are sustainably obtained and it makes clear that it considers the environment in each of its operations, as every product is thought to have a minimal impact on the environment and last as long as possible.
The company also promotes sustainable practices among its offices and employees and is against animal testing.
Nkuku is a member of the British Association of Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS).
