Sustainable September: register your interest now for exclusive events

Planning is underway for Sustainable September – the month-long series of events on sustainability – and Blue & Green Tomorrow readers are invited to register their interest to attend.

Events will be held at several stunning locations on subjects around investment, energy, tourism and retail. Four debate-style evening receptions will take place, with distinguished speakers arguing for and against a particular motion. This will be followed by an all-day conference on sustainability in the final week of September. Speakers for all five events will be unveiled soon.

The audience will be made up of enlightened investors and consumers, professional service firms, City institutions and managers, leading sustainable businesses, the media, policymakers, philanthropists and thought leaders.

Blue & Green Tomorrow readers are called upon to help shape the month. Tell us who you want to see talk and what you want to hear discussed by clicking here.

You can also join the conversation on social media, following Sustainable September on Twitter (@SustSept), Facebook ( and through the dedicated LinkedIn group.

The provisional Sustainable September schedule is below.

Sustainable tourism evening debate – w/c September 1

Debate topic: “Growth in tourism is undesirable: it is rarely economically or environmentally ‘good’.”

Sustainable retail evening debate – w/c September 8

Debate topic: “Free trade trumps fair trade in helping developing economies.”

Sustainable energy evening debate – w/c September 15

Debate topic: “Shale gas and nuclear power will address carbon emissions in the immediate term, far more effectively than unproven renewables.

Sustainable investment evening debate – w/c September 22

Debate topic: “The purpose of investment is maximising return, nothing else.”

Sustainability all-day conference – September 29/30

The sustainability all-day conference will bring together 20 visionaries and thought leaders to discuss sustainability, solutions to unsustainability and how we create a blue and green tomorrow.

Tickets will be released at the beginning of June – and we’re keen that Blue & Green Tomorrow readers get first chance to attend.
