UK Green Building Council and PRP happy to open nominations for fifth annual Rising Star Award.
The award recognises an individual’s vision and success in highlighting the importance of sustainability and environmental performance in building, and driving lasting change in their organisation or the wider sector.
Candidates for nomination should be able to demonstrate one or all of the below:
• Use innovative techniques for sharing knowledge, communicating and promoting greener approaches
• Engage colleagues and peers on sustainability issues to stimulate discussion and debate
• Play a key role in either changing their organisation’s working methods, challenging policy, promoting or improving sustainability performance
• Undertake activities outside of their job role to promote or communicate sustainability issues.
Julie Hirigoyen, Chief Executive, UK-GBC said: “I’m pleased to announce that nominations are now open for this year’s Rising Star Award. The award, now in its fifth year, recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to improving the sustainability of our built environment. It highlights innovation and leadership from those who have delivered meaningful change within and beyond their organisations.
“The winner will be announced during a special session at Ecobuild where we will welcome previous winners, who will be presenting explore what the next ten years could have in store for our industry.”
Andrew Mellor, Partner, PRP said: “We are thrilled to see the Rising Star Award in its fifth year. Last year saw the largest number of nominations and the most diverse in terms of discipline and our hope is to surpass this yet again. It is always great to see the nominee’s entries and we are excited to showcase the stars of the industry at Ecobuild 2017.”
Long-standing judge, Su Butcher, gave the following advice to those nominating someone for the award: “It is possible that the person you nominate is a sustainability professional, but they definitely don’t need to be. They might work for a contractor, a building owner or operator, an architect, engineer or QS, or any other part of the industry or none. Their job might be nothing to do with sustainability, yet they will be helping make our industry or the built environment generally more sustainable, either at work, outside of work, or both.”
The 2017 winner will be announced during a seminar and drinks reception on Wednesday 8 March in the City Hall area at Ecobuild 2017. UK-GBC and PRP will also launch a collection of thought leadership pieces exploring how we can make sustainability in the built environment mainstream.
Nominations will remain open until midday on Friday 16 December.
