ClientEarth Responds to Mayor of London’s Clear Air Consultation
ClientEarth lawyer, Alan Andrew, has responded to the Mayor of London’s announcement today.
He said:
“Today’s announcement from the Mayor shows clear ambition to clean up London’s dirty air. We welcome plans to extend the Ultra Low Emission Zone and bring it in earlier. This will help take the dirtiest vehicles off London’s streets. The Supreme Court ordered compliance as soon as possible and we will be studying these proposals to keep both the Mayor and the national government up to that mark.”
“Today’s announcement should send a clear message to the UK government that ambitious and bold Clean Air Act is needed for the whole country. The government must now up its game so that the whole country can breathe cleaner air.”
