Low Emission Bus Zones Announced By London Mayor
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, announced today a new plan for a series of ‘Low Emission Bus Zones’, which will begin with Putney High Street in February next year.
Responding to the announcement, Andrea Lee, Healthy Air Campaigner for environmental lawyers ClientEarth, said: “The Mayor’s plans highlight that air pollution is not just a problem for central London. The capital’s poor air quality has a huge impact on the health of all Londoners.
“Pollution hotspots need to be tackled urgently so this announcement is welcome, but more needs to be done to reduce air pollution across the whole of the city. That’s why, in addition to cleaning up the buses, the Mayor should consider extending a planned ‘Ultra Low Emission Zone’ to the whole of Greater London so that all Londoners can breathe cleaner air.”
