This year Botanics Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) will be partaking in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, running from midday today until midday on Friday 2nd December.
The focus of this year’s fundraising is the International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN), providing an early warning system for new and emerging pests and diseases of plants.
Help us to raise £10,000 from tomorrow until Friday 2nd December to complete this year’s challenge! All £10,000 will be doubled so with your help we could raise £20,000 to support our work to protect our native trees from damaging pests and diseases.
The International Plant Sentinel Network (IPSN) helps countries to better safeguard their native plant species – with a particular emphasis on trees. The global network, coordinated by BGCI, brings together botanic gardens, arboreta, research laboratories and governmental organisations from all around the world. Organisations work collaboratively to provide an early warning system for new and emerging plant pests and diseases. As well as providing support and coordination, the IPSN provides training for gardens, raises awareness of plant health issues and biosecurity good practise, and helps facilitate much needed research into harmful organisms that pose a prominent threat to tree health. We are looking for your help to fund this work to protect the world’s most threatened trees from extinction!
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is running from midday (12pm GMT) today until midday Friday 2nd December, during this time any donation that you make could be doubled!
