Ecoisland; cottages4you; the Green Party: this week’s features

Another Friday; another feature round-up. Sit back, grab a coffee and have a browse through some of the longer articles that have graced Blue & Green Tomorrow this week.

We began the week with another couple of round-ups. Firstly, we looked back at August for our monthly headline review, picking out the Olympics, the melting of the Arctic sea ice and the arms trade’s investment in UK universities as the three major bits of news to crop up in the last four weeks.

Then we summarised more or less everything that appeared on our website in August – another jam-packed month for us!

In the first feature interview of the week, Alex Blackburne spoke with David Green, founder of the Ecoisland Partnership, a project set up with the aim of transforming the Isle of Wight into the first sustainable region in Britain. He spoke about the “paradigm shift” to sustainability that he was witnessing all over the country.

Ben Charig then profiled Spirit of Ireland, a potentially revolutionary clean energy project that could help the country exploit its plentiful renewable resources and become the master of its own energy fate. Have a look at that piece, if only for our clever pun in the headline.

Our friends at Good Energy supplied us with their monthly article this week, too, with head of external affairs Ed Gill writing about the need to move to a 3D energy policy.

Charlie Wood’s focus travelled across the Atlantic to the UK, as he wrote about whether the Green Party of England and Wales can ever seriously challenge the dominant political heavyweights.

And finally, we were delighted to announce the launch of our partnership with cottages4you today, and began our series with a profile of a spacious country retreat in Sussex.
