Ethical retailer of the week: Jāsön
Jāsön is a company based in the US that sells beauty and personal care products, focusing on natural ingredients that respect the planet.
Jāsön – a word that means “healer” in Greek – was set up in 1959. It aims to provide natural alternatives to mass produced beauty products.
The California-based firm’s pillars are natural, safe and vegetarian ingredients, never tested on animals and constantly improved. Jāsön conducts strict safety testing on its plant-based ingredients, with regards to skin irritation, preservatives and package-product compatibility.
Its products, which include face, body, oral and sun products, plus a range for kids, are packaged in biodegradable, recycled or recyclable material. It also has a certified gluten-free product range.
The company’s mission statement claims Jāsön wants to “give consumers an alternative choice, free of unnecessary chemicals, for their skin, oral, hair, body and bath by developing high performance, natural personal care beauty products”.
It adds, “We pledge to deliver outstanding topical benefits from products consisting entirely of environmentally supportive and all natural ingredients. Above all else, we shall continue to consider our consumers wellbeing, our planet’s natural resources and our animal friends.”
Jāsön has won several awards for its products, including the Natural Health Beauty awards in various categories, the Best Value Brand prize, the Vegan Environmental Awards, the Green Beauty Bible award and it was also the winner for the Best family Brand by Lifescape magazine.
