Government Industrial Strategy : WWF-UK Reaction
Gareth Redmond-King, Head of Climate and Energy Policy at WWF-UK has responded to the Government’s industrial strategy with the following statements.
“The Industrial Strategy is an important opportunity to put low carbon growth at the heart of our economy and build a strong, progressive and competitive industrial base that delivers jobs and prosperity well into the future. But the Strategy will also need to address the pressure on natural resources globally and within the UK.
We need an economy and industrial base which recognises the risks for business from the pressure on natural resources
“We need an economy and industrial base which recognises the risks for business from the pressure on water, timber, mineral and other natural resources and which reduces, reuses and recycles these valuable resources.
Only through sustainable and equitable use of resources will we be able to meet the Government’s objective of leaving the environment in better shape than we inherited and to meet the UK’s international commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals alongside boosting the UK economy.”
