Annual cleantech list set to be announced

The Global Cleantech 100, an all-encompassing list that brings together some of the most innovative clean technology firms in the world, will be announced in Washington DC today.

The annual list, which is compiled by a panel of 70 experts using data from i3, one of the largest databases on cleantech innovation, aims to single out which private companies will be industry leaders in the next decade.

An overview of the event says, “From smart grid to water technologies, these companies will pave the way to increased energy efficiency, a reduction in use of the earth’s finite resources and more efficient businesses.”

The Global Cleantech 100 runs in association with The Guardian, Ernst & Young and the Cleantech Group, and last year’s list had eight UK companies in it, including energy efficiency firm Amantys and transportation developer EVO Electric.

As well as announcing this year’s Global Cleantech 100, the two-day event also includes an awards ceremony for companies that have excelled in the past year – a full shortlist of which can be found on the Cleantech Group’s website.

Blue & Green Tomorrow will be bringing you a full rundown of the list over the next couple of days, including reaction from some of the lucky firms to be included.
