TED talks: an economic reality check – Tim Jackson
Amid a whole host of environmental, social and economic pressures, Tim Jackson, author of the brilliant Prosperity Without Growth: economics for a finite planet, spoke at a TED event in 2010 about how we can ride out these crises and begin to invest in our future.
At a recent conference, Jackson, an economist and professor of sustainable development at the University of Surrey, said he was one of only two people to have written books with the phrase “without growth” in the title.
In the TED talk, he says, “[We are] persuaded to spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need to create impressions that won’t last on people we don’t care about.”
