Partnership Between InnoEnergy And ÖBO To Enhance Energy Savings In Sweden

Published

A strategic partnership has been signed between InnoEnergy, the innovation engine for sustainable energy across Europe and ÖrebroBostäder AB (ÖBO), one of the largest municipality-owned real-estate companies in Sweden, to help the company achieve its goal of reducing energy costs and increasing the energy efficiency of their buildings.

ÖBO has developed a unique energy management platform, which is already delivering a 40 per cent energy saving for electricity and 12 per cent for heating across its portfolio of 23,000 residential and 1,000 commercial properties. The annual cost savings are currently estimated to be 40 million SEK. Thanks to the reduced operating costs, ÖBO’s property value has increased by 700 million SEK.

In creating this partnership, ÖBO and InnoEnergy aim to increase the energy saving to 50 per cent for electricity and to 25 per cent for heating by integrating new technologies – including energy storage and PV solutions. The project will culminate in InnoEnergy taking the concept to market to be replicated on a larger scale.

ÖBO’s solution is extremely innovative and entrepreneurial

Fredrik Billing, Project Manager Market Creator at InnoEnergy, says: “This partnership will support Sweden’s energy transition by accelerating the sustainability of both publicly owned and private sector buildings. ÖBO’s solution is extremely innovative and entrepreneurial. We’re excited to use our experience to enhance its efficiency on the road to commercialisation.”

ÖBO’s unique solution is based on proven open standard technology, integrating both automated and digital systems. This means that the solution can be quickly and easily updated to keep up with the fast pace of change and innovation in the energy industry.

“InnoEnergy’s unique insight into the energy market, large industry network and portfolio of innovative sustainable energy solutions make them the perfect partner for enhancing our technology,” says Jonas Tannerstad, ÖBO Electricity & Automation Manager and developer of the platform. “This partnership will support us in further contributing to a sustainable energy future.”

The first pilot of the enhanced platform, which is due to start in Q1 2017, will be run by InnoEnergy. The commercial phase is scheduled in Q3 next year.
