Good Energy scoops third customer satisfaction crown
Good Energy has topped the Which? Switch satisfaction survey for the third time in for years – with 85% of its customers currently happy with its service.
The organisation had previously beaten off the competition in both 2010 and 2012, and the accolade marks the beginning of what the UK’s only 100% renewable electricity supplier hopes will be another successful year.
“This result is proof that if suppliers choose to invest in high quality customer care, through things like Energy Saving Trust accredited advice and internal training, then they can really help customers save money on their bills”, said Juliet Davenport, Good Energy founder and CEO.
The Which? survey, which is conducted annually, shows that smaller energy suppliers are acres ahead of the larger ones in the UK. Ecotricity, a company that derives nearly 65% of its electricity from renewable sources, was placed second, while Ebico and Utility Warehouse were joint third.
At the other end of the scale, SSE, Eon, British Gas and Scottish Power all scored around the 50% mark, with EDF Energy coming out second-bottom on 46% and Npower propping up its competitors with a lowly 39% satisfaction score.
“Yet again customers have told us they are fed up with the way the biggest energy companies treat them, but the complexity of energy tariffs makes it hard to shop around”, said Which? executive director Richard Lloyd.
“The Government’s energy reforms need to go much further to increase competition so that suppliers are under pressure to raise their game and keep their prices in check. We want the switching process to be quicker and for energy prices to be set out in a way that allows people to spot the cheapest deal at a glance.”
