Spending Review: Government Quietly Winds Down Business Growth Service
Last week the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) issued a formal instruction to providers of the Business Growth Service, which includes Growth Accelerator, to no longer enter into contractual commitments with businesses after Monday 30 November.
The Business Growth Service offered vital support to fast-growth businesses with the potential to improve and grow faster. They helped businesses address the barriers that were holding them back and worked alongside them to identify the critical steps they needed to take to achieve their next phase of growth – rapidly and sustainably.
Delivered by some of the country’s most successful growth specialists, the Business Growth Service helped fast growth businesses grow even faster. Critically it provided a filter so that fast growth businesses could engage a growth specialist who had been vetted and was aligned with the specific challenges that business faced.
Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Rt Hon Sajid Javid, said: “In the next 5 years we will create even more opportunities for businesses to grow.”
