Energy Secretary Clark Promises Clean Affordable Energy and Tackling Climate Change
The new Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Greg Clark issued the following statement yesterday: “I am thrilled to have been appointed to lead this new department charged with delivering a comprehensive industrial strategy, leading government’s relationship with business, furthering our world-class science base, delivering affordable, clean energy and tackling climate change.”
A Shadow Cabinet member for Charities, Voluntary Bodies and Social Enterprise from 2006, the Shadow DECC Secretary from 2008 and a Government Minister since 2010.
In government, his roles were Minister of State for Decentralisation, Minister for Cities, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Minister for Universities, Science and Cities and Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
It seems like this important department is in safer hands than DEFRA.
