Help a charity this Christmas: The Prince’s Trust

Published

on

With just two sleeps until the big day, Blue & Green Tomorrow is encouraging readers to think about donating even a small amount over the festive period to one of the many children’s charities doing exceptional work. Today, it’s the Prince’s Trust.

Founded by the Prince of Wales in 1976, the Prince’s Trust is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK.

On the year of its foundation, the Trust launched a range of pilot projects, granting funds to initiatives such as social and training centres.

The charity focuses on areas of work, training and education, supporting youngsters who come from deprived situations or do not have the support required to develop their skills and knowledge. The Trust offers training, motivation courses and financial help to young people.

According to the charity, “Youth unemployment costs the UK economy £10m a day in lost productivity, while youth crime costs £1 billion every year.”

The Prince’s Trust also recently launched a partnership with retailer Marks & Spencer over a youth employability scheme named Make Your Mark, offering job and training to unemployed young people.

The Trust’s Christmas appeal calls on people to donate a small sum to cover the cost of training and education for young people. You can fund tutors to assist kids that have difficulties at school, pay for skills kits or for hour-long classes.

How to donate

If you want to donate to the Prince’s Trust, call 0845 177 0099 or visit the dedicated donate page on its website.
