Mayor Requests More Power To Help Tackle Climate Change
C40 released their call for more access to finance to tackle climate change at the UN’s Habitat III global summit yesterday.
The C40 call points to two major roadblocks to improving living conditions for their citizens and tackling climate change – finance, and power.
Cities are often way more progressive than their national governments when it comes to climate action, yet their ability to drive things forward is often limited by a lack of access to finance and decision-making power. The message of this call: the world would probably be a good bit further down the road if cities had more autonomy and access to finance.
