ING Appoint New Head Of Sustainable Markets
Hans Biemans has been appointed as the new head of Sustainable Markets at ING Wholesale Banking. Based in Amsterdam at ING Global Capital Markets, he will be responsible for creating new business opportunities within the green bond sector. He will start in his new role as of 1 November 2016.
Biemans joins from Rabobank, where he was the Head of Sustainability for Financial Markets. He joined Rabobank in 2002 as a Senior Sustainable Business Development Manager, where he developed and implemented the banking group’s CSR strategy. In 2012, he became Head of Sustainability, where he co-ordinated the launch of the inaugural green bond of Rabobank and the green RMBS for Obvion, a Rabobank subsidiary.
As advisor Hans was deeply involved in the structuring and origination of over 30 green, social and sustainability bonds for clients and the Rabobank Impact Loan for sustainable SMEs. Biemans is Executive Board Member of the ICMA Green Bond Principles (GBP), chair of the GBP Defining Green Work Stream and initiator of the ICMA Social Bond Guidance.
In his new role, Biemans will report to Leonie Schreve, Head of Sustainable Finance at ING and Romke van der Weerdt, Head of Capital Structuring and Liability Management at ING Global Capital Markets. Hans will bring his green bond structuring expertise to service our corporate and financial institutions clients base. This is in line with ING’s global strategy to accelerate sustainable finance within our company as well as supporting our clients transition their business towards increased sustainability.
He has a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record working with clients such as Alliander, FrieslandCampina, Starbucks, the European Investment Bank and KfW
