Online course launched to promote sustainable investment advice
A new online course, Fundamentals of Sustainable and Responsible Investment, has been launched to help US financial advisers incorporate sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) into clients’ portfolios.
Designed by experts in the field of SRI, the new programme by the US Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF), is said to be the first of its kind.
The online course provides teaching on how financial advisers and other investment professionals should talk about SRI with clients, as well as looking at how to incorporate it into their portfolios and analysing the latest research and trends.
“There has never been a more important time to help train financial intermediaries to handle the increased demand for SRI from both retail and institutional investors”, said Paul Hilton, vice-chair of US SIF.
The Centre for Sustainable Investment Education, which has launched the course, was created to serve the growing demand of investment professionals that needed expertise in the fields of responsible and sustainable investing.
“Mainstreaming sustainable investing is essentially an educational challenge”, said Curtis Ravenel, global head of sustainability to Bloomberg, a leader supporter of the programme.
“US SIF’s programs help financial professionals apply principles of sustainability – long-term value creation – in investing. We believe that this course will provide real value and insight for them as they navigate the increasingly complex issues impacting investment decisions.”
Financial advisory firm the deVere Group recently launched a training programme designed to push new world-class wealth management professionals back into the industry after an apparent downturn in numbers.
