Nominations open for prestigious renewable energy awards at Savoy Hotel
The Renewable Energy Association (REA), the largest trade association for the renewables industry with around 1,000 members, has opened nominations for the ninth annual British Renewable Energy Awards.
Taking place at the Savoy Hotel in London on June 12, the event celebrates the success of renewable energy businesses over the past 12 months. Previous winners include Good Energy, Marks & Spencer and the Lancashire County Pension Fund.
Nina Skorupska, who at last year’s event was unveiled as the REA’s new chief executive, said she was looking forward to being at the helm for her first awards.
“My colleagues and our members tell me these awards are the highlight of the year”, she added.
“I’m delighted we’re working with such a stunning and sustainable venue, but what I’m really excited about is celebrating our members’ excellent work. I can’t wait to read all the entries.”
The venue for the 2014 edition is a suitably green hotel – the Savoy – which scooped five awards in 2013 alone for its commitment to sustainability. It says it has reduced its energy consumption by 30% a year, and also sends zero waste to landfill because of its use of food waste as energy.
As well as awards for innovation, individual projects and skills development, there are two new categories for this year. The sustainability award will be given to those offering an innovative and sustainable product or service, while another award has been introduced to recognise the financial product that has most accelerated the deployment of renewables in the UK in the past year.
Nominations close on March 7. To put forward your company, colleagues or customers, visit: www.surveymonkey.com/s/British_Renewable_Energy_Awards_2014.
