Film Review: Time to Choose

Published

on

Time to Choose is a new film focussed on climate change on a global scale. It demonstrations the challenges we must face, but also the innovative stories of people changing the world for the better.

Academy Award-Winning documentary filmmaker Charles Ferguson (Inside Job, No End in Sight) is the director, showing the audience the negatives of climate change, but also highlighting the many positive steps that countries have taken to combat this global threat. Ferguson even suggests that it is not unreasonable to believe we can reverse this effects of this environmental crisis.

Time to Choose explores the devastating effects of fossil fuels through coal, oil, deforestation and more. Ferguson highlights the importance of action through case studies: from Appalachian residents suffering from coal-poisoned waters to brave officials fighting corruption and deforestation in Indonesia.

Ferguson shows the audience that we have all the solutions we need to turn this problem around, but we are up against the clock to implement an international change.

Oscar Isaac (Inside Llelwyn Davis, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) narrates this star-studded documentary. Ferguson has impressively secured interviews with world-renowned entrepreneurs, innovators and thought leaders including Lyndon Rive, CEO of SolarCity, Nobel Prize winner Muhammed Yunus, Dr Jane Goodall and Governor Jerry Brownas. But he also speaks to courageous individuals living on the front lines of climate change too.

The stunning, yet sometimes devastating, scenery throughout the film was captured across five continents, on location in the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, China, London and Nigeria.

Charles Ferguson said: “I made Time to Choose because climate change is the most important issue facing humanity and we urgently need broader understanding of how enormously we would all benefit from addressing it.”

The message here is clear: we can stop the threat of climate change if we work together and utilise the solutions available to us.

Time to Choose will be released in the US on June 3. To find out more, including screening locations and times and to watch the trailer, visit the Time to Choose official website.
