Sustainability institute of the week: Aberdeen Centre for Environmental Sustainability
The Aberdeen Centre for Environmental Sustainability (ACES) is an informal network of researchers studying environmental sustainability from the University of Aberdeen, James Hutton Institute and Robert Gordons University.
Blue & Green Tomorrow is currently running a crowdfunder to ensure its survival. Please pledge.
ACES was founded in 2007 to bring together the best researchers working on environmental sustainability across the University of Aberdeen and the Macaulay Institute. The aim of the institute was to facilitate new, high-impact interdisciplinary environmental research collaboration but also train new sustainability experts.
Among the recent projects that ACES member have contributed towards is research looking at biodiversity monitoring in the forest ecosystem of Bale Mountains National Park and a buffer zone restoration and development in Knuckles Forest Reserve.
In 2011, ACES organised its first international conference on the theme of conservation conflicts.
