Leading Energy Group Confirmed Ocean Conference Sponsors
A naval defence and innovative energy company has been announced as a gold sponsor for this year’s annual Ocean Energy Europe conference (OEE2016). French-based DCNS will sponsor the two-day ocean energy sector event in November. The event will recognise the work completed by the naval defence group who have had a momentous year setting up innovative projects in France and Canada.
DCNS has emerged as a major player in the ocean energy sector in recent years by exploiting major synergies with its core naval defence sector. The group’s know-how, its industrial resources and expertise allow DCNS to play a leading role over the entire production cycle for these new systems, from design and construction to maintenance.
Thierry Kalanquin, Energy and Marine Infrastructure Director at DCNS, said: “2016 is a landmark year for DCNS in terms of tidal energy deployments and we are very happy to celebrate this by sponsoring the Ocean Energy Europe 2016 Conference and Exhibition. With industry-leading deployments in Brittany and the Bay of Fundy, DCNS is committed to playing its part in building a mainstream ocean energy industry.”
These developments form part of the group’s strategy for growth – DCNS aims to achieve 25% of its turnover in the energy sector by 2025. Today, DCNS is a global leader in tidal energy and ocean thermal energy, and is involved in developing some of the largest projects in the world in these technologies.
The Ocean Energy Europe Conference and Exhibition has grown to be the world’s leading annual event on ocean energy. Taking place in a different EU capital each year, the 2016 edition will be held in the heart of European policy making: Brussels. The event regularly features an array of leading ministers and decision makers alongside CEOs and VPs from leading industry players.
Rémi Gruet, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe, said: “We are very pleased that DCNS has taken a leading role in supporting the development of the sector by sponsoring OEE2016. Having clearly positioned themselves as a front-runner in the ocean energy sector, DCNS’ maritime expertise and manufacturing experience is certain to play a crucial role in the commercialisation of the sector over the coming decade.”
