Switch2 Energy Is Shortlisted For Three Energy Industry Awards
Switch2 Energy has been shortlisted for a trio of energy industry awards for its smart metering technology that is helping to decarbonise heat networks and cut costs for customers.
The company has reached the finals of the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) Awards in the Innovation and Customer Engagement categories, and is also shortlisted for Commercial Heating Product of the Year in the HVR Awards.
Judges were impressed by Switch2’s stylish new Incontro system that takes smart metering and energy prepayment to a new level.
Incontro helps developers and landlords to manage costs, reduce debt risk and improve environmental performance, while making it simpler for residents to pay for their energy and control and monitor their energy usage.
The advanced multifunctional energy system combines either prepayment or credit billing with monitoring and control of energy consumption, including remote control via a mobile app.
It provides everything residents need to programme, control and monitor their energy usage, while also taking care of budgeting and payments. Residents have full visibility of how much energy they are using and view their carbon footprint via a colour touch screen display. This is leading to energy efficiency savings and lower bills.
Switch2’s smart metering technology is being used by Sheffield City Council to dramatically cut customer bills and reduce energy consumption across 6,000 homes connected to its heat network. The technology is predicted to reduce customers’ total annual bill by £1.4 million. Switch2’s exemplary partnership with the local authority has been shortlisted for the ADE Customer Engagement award.
Kirsty Lambert, Director of Switch2 said: “We are thrilled to be shortlisted for these three top industry awards alongside some of the UK’s most innovative green businesses. Our technology is helping to reduce costs of community and district heating for both customers and developers and landlords, reducing debt risk and contributing to growth of the sector.
Incontro makes pay-as-you go billing so easy, flexible and transparent that it is becoming the option of choice for residents.
“For landlords and developers, pay-as-you-go billing dramatically reduces debt risk – helping to secure the income and improve cash flow for a viable community energy scheme. Residents benefit because they find it simple to monitor and control exactly what they spend and how much energy they use.”
Switch2’s Incontro system won the European Smart Metering Technology of the Year Award in May. The technology enables developers and landlords to comply with building regulations, new Heat Network regulations, and the Code for Sustainable Homes (worth up to 2 points). It is also compatible with the new CIBSE Heat Networks Code of Practice and Heat Trust scheme
More than 25,000 homes are using Switch2’s prepayment technology, including residents of housing providers such as Hyde Housing, Gentoo, Notting Hill Housing and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing.
Switch2 remotely manages and monitors the Incontro system from its UK customer service centre, which provides complete billing, prepayment and administration services to more than 60,000 homes across 430 community energy and district heating schemes.
