ScotRail Staff Are All Aboard Becoming Green Champions
Staff at ScotRail were given a ticket to become green champions during a Resource Efficient Scotland training event. Around 20 members of staff from the train operating company attended a Green Champions training day at Hampden delivered by the Resource Efficient Scotland Advice and Support Service, a programme of Zero Waste Scotland. The course is geared towards enabling workers to gain the skills and knowledge to understand the benefits of resource efficiency, identify opportunities to save money on energy, water and materials and be able to collect and analyse data to bring about positive change both at home and in the workplace.
Charlotte Docherty-Shortt, ScotRail’s environmental manager, said: “As a provider of sustainable transport in Scotland, ScotRail aims to minimise the impact we have on the environment. We were really excited to have the opportunity to work in partnership with Zero Waste Scotland to provide a training day for our Green Champions. All our champions enjoyed the course and have already been making suggestions about how we can improve our environmental performance.”
Marissa Lippiatt, Head of Resource Efficient Scotland said: “Good staff engagement is crucial to making resource efficiency improvements in the workplace. Green Champions training is designed to provide organisations with the information they need to inspire and involve staff, leading to real improvements in the organisation. It’s great to see ScotRail staff taking advantage of the training and ensuring that resource efficiency is considered across their facilities. I’d like to congratulate them, and all the organisations which have completed the training, on their success.”
