Eco-Showers Installed in Glastonbury Greenpeace Field

Showers at this year’s Glastonbury music festival will be heated by Organic Energy’s ÖkoFEN wood pellet boiler system. Festival goers will see a dramatic change from the usual mud-baths as they step into clean, eco-friendly showers. Welshpool-based sustainable heating firm, Organic Energy, are providing the hot water to free showers on the Greenpeace field.

Organic Energy’s Managing Director, Andy Boroughs said: “I’ve been going to Glastonbury as a volunteer field manager for over 20 years and I can tell you, it’s no fun standing next to someone who has only used baby wipes over four whole days of sweaty dancing and mosh pit reveling.

“We expect to power 10,000 showers and use a tonne of wood pellets over the festival period. If the weather at Glastonbury is anything like it was at Manchester’s Parklife Festival two weekends ago, the 56 kw ÖkoFEN Pellematic Maxi heating and hot water system will be working overtime.”

Austrian manufactured ÖkoFEN wood pellet heating and hot water systems are widely regarded as the most efficient wood pellet boilers in the world. Organic Energy has sole distributor rights in the UK.

Glastonbury Festival starts today at Worthy Farm, Somerset, and closes on Sunday 26th June. Amongst this year’s stellar acts are Muse, Adele and Coldplay.

Around 175,000 people are expected to attend the world renowned festival this year.
