Helpful Eco-Friendly Moving Tips
Dealing with a move is a very difficult job, as it is a process that calls for handling a lot of different chores over a short period so that you can transfer successfully from one address to the next. There will be planning the process, making sure that you have everything that you need, booking services, making sure that your goods are wrapped and placed in boxes, and dealing with furniture removal, conveying items and more.
These are jobs that take a lot of effort and it can be difficult to take on by yourself. If you want to be able to manage all of these steps, you may want to think of hiring moving services, start early and put together a checklist so that you can get everything done in a timely fashion. When these chores are on your horizon, you need to stay on top of things. If you want to try to keep your move as eco-friendly as possible, there are ways that you can take on a green removal with proper planning.
What are you Moving
Look at the items that you are using, meaning try to pack and use boxes that are made using recycled materials. Try to stay away from using plastics unless they are reusable totes that you already have on hand. There are cardboard and paper items that you can find that are going to be easier to recycle and they are biodegradable. You can find them online, at home stores and more.
Another way that you can recycle and stay green is trying to use items that you already have around your home instead of buying brand new packing goods. Any spare removal boxes are great for moving and if you happen to have the original boxes that items came in, that will be even better.
Think of using cloth, newspapers, sheets, clothing and towels that you may have around your home as a suitable packing material. If possible, you can also ask some of your friends and family members if they have such materials that they can spare for your move.
Recycling Packaging
Once the house move is over and done with, you should think of recycling as many of the packing materials as you can. This means trying not to throw them away as you are unpacking and keeping it all together so that you can make it really simple. Once you have finished, you have the ability to make your move environmentally friendly if you bring the items to local recycling centers or take them to some of the nearby bins in your area. If you happen to have too much material to take on by yourself, you may be able to get help from the local centers by just giving them a call.
You can even make green steps during the actual journey that you take on your way to your new location. Think about seeking out a vehicle that can cover the entire move instead of having to use several at the same time. One larger vehicle is going to put out fewer emissions than several vehicles with smaller motors.
In addition to that, you should think about trying to take the more direct route that you possible can. This will allow for the vehicle to spend a lot less time on the road, thus preventing more emissions from being released into the environment.
A green office space or home is easy to achieve just as long as you are smart about these tips and other helpful ideas.
